The problem is that the Mexican foods in America are not the same as they are in Mexico. Americans have added super fat and super-sized the meals. If you go down to any North American country like Mexico, you may not even find the same dishes because the dishes were created in the US. Authentic Mexican foods are rich in fresh vegetables, nutritious, protein, vitamins, and spices.

Taco Bell an American restaurant comes to mind as a popular food chain that serves Mexican foods. You will find burritos, tacos, and quesadillas. People in Mexico generally do not eat big platters of tortilla chips in their daily meals. Because of the food sold in the US, it is not very healthy. The Mexican food in America is not as rich in nutrients. It contains high fat, calories, and sodium. It also does not include many fresh vegetables.

Most of the traditional Mexican foods have less fat and less calories. This doesn’t mean you cannot to enjoy the foods served in any US restaurants. You may add more healthy foods to the dish. Tomato has high in vitamins and has lycopene which has cancer-fighting properties. Tomatoes can be added to many North American dishes. Beans carry with high protein and fiber. Instead of eating the beans refried, try getting them whole. It reduces the fat. Corn is another vegetable that is healthy in North American foods. It contains high vitamins and fiber. Adding these to your Mexican dishes, it will make them healthier than what you are served at Taco Bell.

You may be thinking if people in Mexico eat healthier foods. In the US we have the choice to go to health food stores where we may find organic foods or foods, not as fattening. The only difficulty is that not everyone can afford to buy these foods whenever they go for a grocery shop. In Mexico, healthier choice is available. Every year the health food market in Mexico makes more than $500 Million. The consumers make up only 5 percent of Mexico’s population. Their age range is between 20 to 50 years old. They usually live in metropolitan areas and only can afford to buy these types of healthier foods. If they cannot afford it, they still are not getting all the calories and fats that we find in American foods, especially in fast-foods. Authentic Mexican foods still carry many ingredients and vegetables that are good for your body, and also the process of cooking is healthier.

You are probably thinking again, is North American food healthy for me. Authentic Mexican dishes are because they carry generally low fats and high vitamins. America has fattened up the Mexican dishes making them not a good choice. If you want to go out to get some food to eat, try avoiding the major Mexican food chain restaurants. Find a restaurant that serves normally authentic dishes. It is healthier and will taste even better than knowing you are giving your body good foods.
